RADIO JCOM SOCIAL welcomes Hanah Sharon words and pictures by courtesy of John Fisher
New Radio Jcom recruit Hanah Sharon is full of enthusiasm to get Leeds community youth involved in broadcasting.
Speaking at a social event at the home of Terry Stowe (the station’s architect, founder and Chief Executive) Hanah was keen to discover what young people can bring to the station.
Some thirty guests including presenters, producers and technicians heard the station’s new community liaison officer tell of her intention to set down a long-term plan to take the station forward into the next decade.
Hanah sees a `whole legion of young people` at the Zone, who currently have access to their own recording studio, becoming stars of the future on the airwaves.
This section of the community, by taking more action in programming, could augment the line-up that already exists in Radio Jcom, she said.
Hanah has already had meetings with Zone leaders who are keen to co-operate.
“This resulted in the youngsters currently recording their own programmes for Jcom which will be heard on the airwaves very soon.”
Hanah, eager to target University students to create their own special Radio Jcom contribution, said:
“The station has been running live for two years now but some thought has to be put into where it wants to be in the years ahead. So we need to draw up a long-term plan and it needs to be structured.”
Radio Jcom is a rich and unique resource for the Jewish community, she said, but there is untapped talent in the community which she means to explore.
